Hey all, Scott here.
"Scott's Stash" is the companion channel to "Scott The Woz". While that channel houses the "Scott The Woz" series, "Scott's Stash" is focused on unscripted content. New videos are uploaded 1-3 times a week.
This channel also serves as an archive of older projects I've done, though be warned, I do not promise quality.

Seriously stop folding cables around the controller like that 24:52 It's the worst possible thing you could casually do to a controller, it puts huge amounts of strain on the cable and gets the insides all twisted. I once had a soundengineer yell at me for doing that to a mic cable. SO DON'T DO IT
We didn’t bitch about the service. We bitched because NSO launched with a fraction of the games and hardly any of them were ones people really wanted. Also they couldn’t play the multiple they already bought on wii/ wiiu.
In terms of Nintendo seeing how high they could set prices, the N64 is a great example. It launched in America at $200, but in the UK at £250 ($400 US at the time). Two months after launch, there was a price cut of £100 ($160 US). After complaints, Nintendo offered people who had already purchased an N64 the choice of Lylat Wars or Mario Kart 64 for free. I feel like the Ambassador Program is a result of avoiding the same backlash.
ambassador program allowed me to play some classic for the 1st time.
two nintendo tubers getting together to talk about how the nintendo thing was better than a competitor's thing, what a shock.
I still have all my ambassador stuff on my new 3ds LL...ngl, the price change suck, but it also got me into retro gaming at that time
I avoided the 3DS till they did the price drop and the ambassador games was a nice bonus. The local super market had the price drop early, I had the cash and I ran over to grab it. I've since then transferred my ambassador status up to a New 3DS XL. It's a nice novelty, back when Nintendo would do things like that instead of being weird, angry and dodgy now.
Trash
I transferred my ambassador games to my majoras mask 3ds xl. I also noticed you’re missing Zelda four swords
I’m guessing the reason you gave for there being no GBA VC is also the reason that the SNES VC is exclusive for New 3DS
Now people can just inject GameCube games on Wii U and play them as "Wii Based" games
2016: Rumors about Nintendo nx code name for Nintendo switch 2024: Rumors about Nintendo switch 2
2024 probably is last year of Nintendo switch
Yo spare a 3ds man, you don't need Allat and I do
30:38 - Where is this video from? Reggie talking to press about the Wii
the reason yoshi and some other games were like that without 3d models it’s because it was probably the older virtual console games
What do people have with Wii music I love Wii music and it’s one of my favorite Wii games
1:04:40 1:07:35
I get the aphabetising issue. I'm very OCD about it. I tend to organise by franchise and then release order (original release not the exact edition's release) so Yoshi's World would go under/next to Super Mario World for me. Tho, for something I may put in timeline order if that feels right lol. Plus I tend to go by like the official title so if something is called "The"- somehting it goes under T and not whatever the initial of the second word is.
32:00 Don't buy Dragon Quest 1,2,3 yet, HD Remakes coming in winter/spring
Definitely don't like Nintendo online I don't like having to pay to play my games online and I much perfer buying games from vc specifically I would of wanted n64 and gamecube games
3DS's 1st party line up was kinda weak at launch, but 3rd parties came out swinging. Street Fighter IV, Ridge Racer 3D and Ghost Recon alone carried those first few months until Zelda, Resident Evil and Dead or Alive hit. It wasn't the best launch, but it all worked out in the end.
At my Grandma’s on her NES… Damn i feel old!
I love the N64 controller but it very much seems like a prototype that they for some reason decided to ship. Then Sony released the dualshock which is just like a pretty much perfected concept lol. I love the switch pro controller. Nice rumble, battery lasts more than five minutes and is a comfotable controller. I also love the Gamecube controller. Kinda weird shape but comfortable.
I would have had a 3DS when they first launched. I just had to stay at my crap job another 5 months. I didn't end up buying one until 2013. I would not have played half those games anyway. I just really wanted to play Metroid Fusion since I could never find that game in stores.
I'm actually hoping Arcade Archives does a subscription service in the future too.
Switch ports are trash unless you're talking about low poly stuff like Dragonquest or Final Fantasy X.
If there is anything important to take note of when it comes to virtual console, it's the first major example of "digital game library" disappearing. I spent several hundred dollars of Virtual Console over the years on 3DS and Wii/Wii U and all that shit is trash now in the Switch era. It's not like I can't get on and play stuff but it didn't transfer over in any way, shape or form to the Switch so in my mind it was purchases that disappeared and if I want to play them on Switch it's a fresh start and fresh money has to be paid (per month in this case). So although I'm not a big cheerleader for "everything physical" I do think Virtual Console is a great example for the "everything physical" crowd. They were right when it came to Nintendo shit, effectively all of those purchases I made are in the trash now with no refund or replacement in sight. In comparison, I still have a gallon zip lock baggie from like 20 years ago that has a gameboy color, gameboy advanced and gameboy advanced SP and like 20 games that all still work perfectly fine (granted I have batteries to put in them and the SP still charges up with it's internal battery). I can play that shit any time without any hassle and the money my parents spent on it two and half decades ago is still providing entertainment.
This thing is easily the most comfortable out of the whole 3DS family. If they had released the New 2DS in this form factor it would've been perfect IMO.
I could have gotten you my ambassador 3DS, but since you already have one, I'll swap for a different offer. Vintage blender, 14 speeds, 1970's - 1990's ish. Hamilton Beach. Still works. 40 bones.
When I first bought the 3ds I was upset that the price got dropped so soon when I had paid 250, but I wouldn't have tried Metroid fusion otherwise, so for that I'm actually grateful
Fun Fact: The NSO apps are region free. This means that even though I have an American account and subscription, I can still play the Japanese NSO apps no problem! All I did was make an account with Japan as the region and downloaded from the eShop.
An advantage of the "simulated" gba titles is that because so little processing power is required to play them, the battery life of the 3DS system skyrockets. You can get up to 5 hours of battery life playing exclusively GBA games.
Scott repeats himself quite a bit in this video I notice, especially with explaining how GBA games work
I bought my 3DS on day one as a 12 year old, and I didn’t even learn about the Ambassador Program until MUCH later. Cause I had stopped using it for a fair bit. But when going on a trip I brought it with me and learned about it. The weirdest thing is that the ambassador certificate is just a 2D video file. Not even a 3D video!
This is Michael's lawyer, cease and desist immediately. Remove this video, we will be in touch.
Don't play anything on NSO so I wouldn't have any use for the service but $20 to $50 for a year is a good deal.
the best alternative to multi games is what mario 3d world + bowser fury did. you enter the game and choose the game. just perfect.
I gave my ambassador 3ds to my sister
Asking as an OG ambassador, I don't actually remember - the Ambassador Certificate says to watch for updates/notifications - did anything ever actually happen? As far as I know they only ever released the original 20 games then there was nothing else.
I would be so down for an updated version of this game that fixes up some stuff and covers the Switch era of Mario(which I know isn’t entirely over at the moment but it is winding down)
I bought one of these when they came out when I was a kid! I remember downloading all the free games when they came out in 2 different waves
Dark Souls III.
It would be awkward to play multiplayer when playing the joy cons on the side when having a d pad.
My 3ds is an ambassador 3DS and I have all the virtual console games, but I don’t have the certificate anymore and I have no idea if I can download it again. I probably definitely deleted it to make room for other stuff. ETA: because of the ambassador program, I was able to play Mario vs Donkey Kong for the first time earlier this year, before the remake came out
People with modded 3ds that have been playing gba games with every version of 3ds: 🧍♂️
My older brother passed away last year. I remember him telling me that he had an ambassador 3DS that he sold to GameStop and it sucked because they had to wipe it after buying it from him, so the games would all be gone. I remember being so pissed at him for not trading my 3DS for his and selling mine instead lmao. Thanks for bringing up that good memory for me Scott!
0:01 😅 nothing to be ashamed of ... I own 5 different 2DS/3DS systems. I absolutely adore Nintendo handhelds and the 'New' 2DS/3DS modded is the best of 'em all rolled into one. Still play 'em all the time. Luigi's Mansion 2(Dark Moon) HD on Switch this week btw!! 👍
I have the final fantasy 1-6 limited edition and that thing I’ll sit on until I’m dead
The 3DS has GBA hardware in it, so when you play VC or injected GBA Roms, you're not emulating, you're playing it natively. So the GBA may be a more complicated system than NES, but since it has to emulate the NES, it's actually easier to do GBA on 3DS since it plays natively. Ninty was just gatekeeping the games, you can't even play Pokemon Emerald without injecting the ROM yourself
